Artpost - Colours Over Steve White's Elephantmen Pin-Up

I was going to hold off on posting this until it actual saw print, but the artist, Steve White, has posted it over at his blog, Thunderlizard – so why not, eh?

Go over there and check out his gorgeous pencils (which I was doing my best not to obscure).

Fusing the cartoony designs of the Elephantmen with their animal inspirations, Steve also took thematic cues from the Band of Brothers DVD cover - which added up to washed-out colours with strong white highlights.

This pic didn't really come together for me until I started adding the white highlights along the impossibly-detailed areas of wrinkled skin. It's gorgeous stuff that deserves to be seen as large as possible!

There'll be more original art from Steve and I in the near future, I hope, after our previous Rogue Trooper pairing – which you can also see at Thunderlizard.
